History 319: U.S. Tourism

Interviews conducted by students in History of U.S. Tourism (HIS 319) at Cleveland State University Department of History, supervised by professor Mark Souther.

John Hemsath provides an in-depth retrospective of the history and evolution of Cleveland's Playhouse Square. Beginning with Vaudeville and spanning through the ongoing renovations and present, most subjects that relate to the theater are touched upon. However, a majority of the discussion revolves around issues pertaining to restoration and revitalization of the various theaters.

Mr. Mackin discusses the ins and outs of working at a funeral home. Included in this interview are discussions on denominational differences, what the job consists of, and the various funerary rituals observed by different cultures that he has had to take into account.
